TODAY'S NEWS:Another Comic What I Like:Gone With the Blastwave by Kimmo Lemetti What I Like About It: Dark and funny. If Samuel Beckett did a webcomic, this might be it. In a crumbling city, soldiers from three armies wander aimlessly, searching for a way out. The nearly-indistinguishable, gas-masked characters skitter on the edge of madness as they try to achieve their urgently futile mission in a washed-out, post-apocalyptic landscape. All this would merely become an exercise in Grim Hopelessness if not for a twisted sense of gallows humor in the face of despair. The levity doesn't diminish the anti-war stance, however. Instead, it illuminates the humanity behind the masks, showing the characters as neither heroes nor villains, but ordinary mortals struggling to get by in a harsh, uncaring world, far beyond their control.
