TODAY'S NEWS: Unfortunately, the Kelvin-scale trick doesn't work. I didn't have a Kelvin thermometer, so I drew one on a post-it note, and set it to 293°. I spent the rest of the afternoon tapping it and muttering, "It says it's 293° in here, but it feels like it's only 292°!" Let me know if you have more success.

Did you go out to watch the Geminid Meteor Shower this weekend? It was the best meteor shower of 2009, according to NASA and "Live Tweeting", based on comments like "So... very... cold..." and "I CAN'T FEEL MY FEET!!" Don't get me wrong; I think meteor watching is a great thing! But I'd like it better if it wasn't cold and in the middle of the night. All those people who froze to death trying to watch up to two meteors per minute, we salute you!
