TODAY'S NEWS: Perhaps you've had occasion when you've found one of my comics particularly amusing and wanted to share it with a friend or family member. They read the comic, and get that half-hearted smile that is followed by "That's nice."

"Nice!?!" You say. "It's HYSTERICAL!"

To which they say: "I guess I just don't get it."

And while that's disappointing in the moment, I'm actually okay with that. This comic is not for everyone. I could have produced one of those innocuous, family-friendly strips you find in the major newspapers, but it wouldn't be nearly as much fun. No, I wanted to create something that made me laugh.

Which meant that the result would only appeal to an elite set of people. The sort whose sense of humor encompasses the quirky, offbeat and absurd. The kind of people who click with this comic's zeitgeist and aren't thrown off when I use words like "zeitgeist." People like you.

I mention all this because over the last few months, I've gotten some enthusiastically supportive comments (like those on the markers at the Eldritch Realm). I appreciate them all. I'm glad you're reading my work! I hope you get a chuckle more often than not. Or a laugh. Or even the coveted spray of your beverage-of-choice all over your screen.

So let me say, thanks for reading, for hunting Easter Eggs, for commenting, for entering contests. But mostly, thanks for getting it. It means a lot to have readers who come back week after week, and it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who finds this funny.
