TODAY'S NEWS: I won, I WON!! It might be more meaningful if I wasn't the only one nominating and voting, but it does make up for a lot. To say I was disappointed when I received the "Sorry, I don't have a category for you" email from the WCCA Presentation Coordinator would be an understatement. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad if the email acknowledging that I'd volunteered to create one of the award presentations hadn't sounded like it was a done deal. (Apparently last year there weren't enough volunteers, and this year there were too many.) As of this writing, I don't know who was selected, but I can understand why he might choose big-name webcomic artists over a lesser-known newcomer, despite my obvious enthusiasm.
And along those lines, I would like to see more photocomics represented in future WCCA nominations. I don't think that photocomic artists will achieve greater integration by being militant and angry, but by being talented, funny and supportive of webcomics in general. I've set a goal to be more active in the webcomics community in the future. And I do sincerely congratulate all the Nominees and Winners of the Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards!
Did I mention that Ask Dr. Eldritch is Ranked #1 at PhotoWebComic?
